With many Flex projects under our belt, it continues to shine as one of the premier technologies in the crowded RIA space. Not only is Flex one of the quickest platforms to develop on, with it's seamless integration with Adobe AIR, it has also has potential to become the holy grail of cross-platform mobile development.

What is it?

Adobe Flex is a software development kit (SDK) released by Adobe Systems for the development and deployment of cross-platform rich Internet applications based on the Adobe Flash platform. Flex applications can be written using Adobe Flash Builder or by using the freely available Flex compiler from Adobe.

Flex 4 or Adobe Flash Builder includes an easy to use IDE and has been optimized extremely making the framework very light. The only hurdle standing in Flex’s way was Apple’s non-support of the Flash Player in iOS devices, however now that problem has been solved with the recent upgrades to Adobe AIR, offering runtime capability for iOS devices. Great progress!
