Energy Market Exchange (EMEX) is a game-changer in the energy industry. Many states in the US allow commercial electricity customers to purchase electricity from a variety of suppliers and distributors through a market based system. Similar to commodities, customers can purchase futures in electricity and soon natural gas at daily fluctuating rates, thereby locking in a lower rate over a long period of time.
